Alaina E. Roberts (Ph.D. 2017) has received three awards for her first book, I've Been Here All the While: Black Freedom on Native Land: The Stubbendieck Great Plains Distinguished Book Prize (awarded by the University of Nebraska's Center for Great Plains Studies), the W. Turrentine Jackson Prize (awarded by the Western History Association), and the John C. Ewers Award (awarded by the Western History Association).

On October 8th, Arlene Díaz presented the plenary talk “Agents of (Mis)Translation: US War Correspondents and the Transcultural Encryption of Imperial Narratives in the Spanish-Cuban-American War, 1895-1898” at the Ford Conference of Fellows.
