The IU Walter Center awarded three undergraduate History majors Internship Scholarships, enabling them to do the internship of their choice during the summer. Julie Stout completed the Clowes Internship (IUMAA); Anna Pohl interned at the Children's Policy and Law Institute; and Abigail Hooks interned at the Will County Historical Museum and Research Center.
J.D. Bowers (Ph.D. 2003), a former Paul Lucas/Bernard Sheehan student who served as a TA for Nick Cullather and Wendy Gamber, and studied with Peter Guardino, was announced as the new Dean of the Honors College at Rutgers University. Bowers will also serve as Professor of the Practice in the Departments of Africana Studies and History.
Mary Figueroa (MA/MLS 2021) has accepted the position of Curator of History at the Indiana State Museum.
John Rector (Ph.D. 1976) had his book, The History of Chile, 2nd ed., published by Greenwood Press, 2019. Rector is Professor of History at Western Oregon University.
Blood and Steel: Ryan White, the AIDS Crisis and Deindustrialization in Kokomo, Indiana, written by Ruth Reichard (Ph.D. 2015), was shortlisted for the 2022 Indiana Authors Awards in the nonfiction category.

Welcome to Clare Griffin, who has joined the department as Assistant Professor of History, and Amy Ransford, who joins as Visiting Assistant Professor in History and Assistant Editor at the Journal of American History.
The open access edition of Ke-chin Hsia's book, Victims' State: War and Welfare in Austria, 1868-1925 (New York: Oxford University Press, 2022) is now available at https://archive.org/details/978019758239, https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/56682 , and other open access depositories including Project Muse and JSTOR. Please download the book as often as you like using different computers. The open access funder, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Sustainable History Monograph Pilot production team at Longleaf Services would like to know if open access editions will expand readership and how they may impact the uses and marketability of the physical editions. If you prefer tangible and touchable books, the hardback edition of this title will be available in November, according to OUP's website.
