- Jennifer Boles, PhD (2014) Latin American History is currently enrolled in the MA in Documentary film program at Northwestern University where she has been nominated for the Princess Grace Award in film. Her most recent film, "Cowboy Town" has been accepted for the 2018 Chicago Underground Film Festival and will be screened on June 7.

- Graduate student Stephanie Huezo received a Mount Holyoke Fellow and Visiting Lecturer in History position for 2018-2019 renewable for second year as a postdoctoral fellowship.
- Graduate student Kathryn Lehman received the sustainability research development grant from IU’s Office of Sustainability.
- Graduate student Samson Ndanyi has accepted a teaching position at Rhodes College, Memphis, TN, as a Visiting Assistant Professor of History and Africana Studies (2018-19). He will teach African history, Black Cinema, Black Protest, and Africana Studies.
- Roberta Pergher presented the paper "Italy and the Rights of Others" at the conference "Settlement and Unsettlement: The Ends of World War I and their Legacies" held at the German Historical Institute in Washington D.C. March 22-24. She was recently awarded an IU Primary Sources Immersion grant for 2018, as well as a grant-in-aid from IU's Office of the Vice Provost for Research to support translation of her recent book, Mussolini's Nation-Empire, into Italian.
- Mark Roseman and Roberta Pergher's proposal for a 10-day excursion in northern Italy, "Violence and Landscape in Alpine Borderlands," has been selected for the Bicentennial Grand Expedition in Summer 2018.
- Mark Roseman was appointed to the Academic Advisory Board for the former concentration camp memorial sites Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora.
- Eric Sandweiss spoke to 20 people at the Lawrence County Museum of History in Bedford, and 200 people at the Indiana Statewide Historic Preservation Conference in Columbus. In between, he took part in “Architectural History Redefined: Celebrating the Scholarship of Dell Upton” at CCNY.
- Rebecca Spang's paper "Individuals, Institutions, and Innovation in the Debates of the French Revolution" (co-authored with Alexander Barron, Jenny Huang, and Simon DeDeo) has been published in PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences). It is available on-line and was also the subject of a non-technical press release from IU Newsroom.
- On April 13, Lynn Struve spoke at Ohio State University on "The Historicity of Dreaming: A Case from Late Imperial China."
