  • Maria Bucur has published The Global West (Cengage, 2017) and "Sex in the Time of Communism. The Ripple Effect of the #metoo campaign" in Public Seminar: http://www.publicseminar.org/2017/12/sex-in-the-time-of-communism/
  • Graduate student Sarah Foss been awarded a 2017 Dorothy Rosenberg Phi Beta Kappa Travel Award from the AHA to attend and present at this year's annual meeting.
  • Carl Ipsen has recently signed a contract with Le Monnier (Mondadori) for an Italian edition of Fumo: Italy's Love Affair with the Cigarette. That work was also featured in the March, September and November issues of the Italian trade journal Pianeta Tabacco.   • Marissa Moorman received a New Frontiers of Creativity and Scholarship award for her next project: Mercenaries of Decolonization: Angola's Forgotten Cold War Drama.
  • Mark Roseman has been named a Distinguished Professor. This is the highest academic rank for scholars and researchers at IU. For more information please see https://news.iu.edu/stories/2017/12/iu/releases/11-distinguished-professors.html .
  • Mark Roseman published "ברברים מ'מעגל התרבות' שלנו :הפושעים הנאצים בעיני יהודי גרמניה" (Barbarians from our "Kulturkreis"; Perpetrators in the eyes of the Jews of Germany) In Chidushim, Studies in the History of German and Central European Jewry vol 19 (2017), pp.67-120.
  • Carl Weinberg’s book manuscript, Red Dynamite: Creationism and Anticommunism in Modern America, is under review at John Hopkins University Press.
  • Noam Zadoff's book Gershom Scholem: From Berlin to Jerusalem and Back was published with Brandeis University Press (the Tauber Institute Series). Noam also organized the Workshop: "Jewish Intellectuals and the Six-Day War 1967-2017", at the ETH, the Technical University of Zurich (together with Prof. Andreas Kilcher), December 11-12. There he presented the paper: "The Anti-Sabra: Udi Adiv and the Renegade as an (Anti) Culture Hero after 1967".
