  • "In Pursuit of a Different Revolution: Russian Populists of the Seventies Generation in 1917" by Ben Eklof and Tatiana Saburova was published in the most recent issue of the Slavic Review, (76(3), 683-693), the flagship journal of the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies
  • Jeff Gould premiered his new documentary, Puerto el Triunfo, in the Universidad de Costa Rica as part of the conference, Culturas de Violencia de Paz en América Central y el Caribe, 1979-2016. The English language premier of the film, Port Triumph, will be in the IU Cinema on February 5th.
  • Jennifer Hart's (PhD 2011) Indiana University Press book, Ghana on the Go. African Mobility in the Age of Motor Transportation, is shortlisted for the Herskovits award, the main book award of the African Studies Association.
  • Graduate student Szabolcs Laszlo won the REEI Mellon Endowment Student Grant-in-Aid of Research to support his travel to Budapest, Hungary, where he will conduct research in the Historical Archives of the Hungarian State Security between December 2017 and January 2018.
  • Graduate student Samson Ndanyi is the winner of the 2017 Royal Air Morocco-African Studies Association Student Travel Award. He will travel to Chicago November 16 - 18, 2017 to accept the award in person.
  • Mark Roseman gave the paper “The Rescue of History. Help for Jews in Nazi Germany in History and Memory" to a joint session of the Colloquium for Global History and the Colloquium in Contemporary History at the Free University, Berlin, October 30, 3017.
  • Marking the centennial of the Bolshevik Revolution, Carl Weinberg has published a two-part post at the Righting America at the Creation Museum blog. The piece is entitled "Hiding in Plain Sight: Creationists and Anticommunist Politics" and can be read here.
  • On Thursday November 9, Ellen Wu delivered a lecture on "The Great American Melting Pot: Myth or Reality?" for the IU Lifelong Learning Program's partnership with the Friends of the Monroe County Public Library as part MCPL's THE POWER OF WORDS program.
