  • Dr. Ebenezer Ayesu, Senior Lecturer, Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana at Legon and an IU History PhD (2011), just published "Diplomacy, Identity and Appropriation of the 'Door of No Return': Obama and Family in Ghana and the Cape Coast Castle, 2009," in J.K. Osei-Tutu and V.E. Smith eds., Shadows of Empire in West Africa: New Perspectives on European Fortifications. Series: African Histories and Modernities. (Cham, Switzerland: Springer International Publishing/Palgrave Macmillan, 2018), pp. 397-326.
  • Graduate student Khaled Esseissah presented a paper at the conference of New Directions in the Study of Islamic Scholarship in Africa, at Radcliffe Institute for Advance Study at Harvard University, October 5-6, 2017.
  • Padraic Kenney’s book, Dance in Chains: Political Imprisonment in the Modern World, has been published by Oxford University Press.  He also presented a paper on Polish Communism as an emotional experience at a symposium at Harvard, "Did Ten Days Shake the World: Centenary Perspectives on the Russian Revolution."
  • Pedro Machado has edited and published a special issue of Textile History, 48 (1), 4-14, "Entangled Histories: Translocal Textile Trades in Eastern Africa, c. 800 CE to the Early Twentieth Century."
  • Mark Roseman was discussant at the panel "German History Beyond Borders" and moderator of the panel "Masculinities in the Third Reich" at the German Studies Association 2017 conference, in Atlanta Georgia.
  • The inaugural online issue of The College Magazine is now live, and History alumna, Morgan Mohr (BA 2017), is featured in the "20 Under 40" list. You can view the magazine here.
