- Owen V. Johnson (emeritus, Journalism) is the author of two article in the Spring 2016 issue of Traces of Indiana & Midwestern History: "Wrestling with Fame: Ernie Pyle & the Pulitzer Prize," [with Holly Hays] and "Keep Them Smoking: the Ernie Pyle Cigarette Fund".
- Andrei Miroiu (MA 2010) had his book Romanian Counterinsurgency and its Global Context, 1944-1962 published by Palgrave Macmillan this summer.
- Ellen Wu presented an invited paper "Overrepresentation: Asian Americans and the Conundrums of Statistical Mirroring," at the Diversity, Justice, and Democracy workshop hosted by Harvard University's Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics on September 17. On September 24 she will moderate a workshop on "Jr. Faculty Success" at the Conference of Ford Fellows in Washington DC.
- Indiana University's History Graduate Student Association invites you to attend this year's Paul Lucas Conference. “Reframing the Landscape: Historical Visions of Place” convenes Friday and Saturday, October 7th and 8th from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm at Indiana Memorial Union's Tree Suites. The keynote lecture will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, October 8th in the Oak Room. We are honored to welcome Kristin Hoganson, Professor of History, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, as our speaker. Dr. Hoganson will address the topic of remapping local history for our global age. Her publications include: Consumers' Imperium: The Global Production of American Domesticity, 1865-1920 (2007) and Fighting for American Manhood: How Gender Politics Provoked the Spanish-American and Philippine-American Wars (1998). She is currently working on a new project entitled “Once Upon a Place: The U.S. Heartland Between Security and Empire” (forthcoming).
