  • Konstantin Dierks has been awarded a Senior Visiting Research Fellowship at the Rothermere American Institute at the University of Oxford for academic year 2018-2019.
  • Graduate students Carrie Fudickar, Kathryn Lehman, Meghan Riley, and Luis Silva have been selected to receive CAHI Graduate Research Travel Grants. 
  • Jeff Gould presented his film, “Port Triumph,” at California State University, Los Angeles, University of California, Irvine, and the University of California, Santa Barbara.
  • Peter Guardino published the essay "Connected Communities:  Villagers and Wider Social Systems in the Late Colonial and Early National Periods," in Beyond Alterity:  Destabilizing the Indigenous Other in Mexico.  Paula López Caballero and Ariadna Acevedo Rodrigo, eds. University of Arizona Press.  On March 20 Peter gave the talk "Democracy in the Other America:  Citizenship in the Early Nineteenth Century"  at  Vanderbilt University.
  • Graduate student Andrew Jacobs was awarded a dissertation fellowship from the Russian Studies Workshop at Indiana University.
  • Sarah Knott has been elected a fellow of the Rothermere American Institute and Centre for Life Writing, Oxford University, for 2018-2019.
  • Alaina Roberts (Ph.D. 2017) has accepted the 2018-2020 Dietrich School Diversity Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.
  • Kaya Sahin has been elected as a delegate-at-large to the American Research Institute in Turkey.
  • Ellen Wu presented on "How Asians Became America's 'Model Minority, and Why That Matters" at Penn State University (History, Latinx Studies, Asian Studies) on February 27 and Franklin & Marshall College (American Studies) on February 28.
